Cushing Syndrome
. Cushing syndrome is characterized by clinical signs and symptoms due to chronic glucocorticoid excess Various degrees of hyperpigmentation can be seen, usually most severe in patients with the ectopic adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) syndrome. As in Addison disease, hyperpigmentation is generalized, but most prominent in sun-exposed areas such as face, neck, and dorsal hands, as well as in areas subject to chronic mild trauma or pressure (shoulders, midriff, waist, elbows, knuckles, spine, knees) and on mucosal surfaces.
